our story
Started in 2004, Perch! is the design work of Amy Adams. Combining industry and craft to make functional yet sculptural ceramic products, Perch! continues to evolve.
Most Perch! products are handmade right here in our little studio in Brooklyn New York. Amy has most likely touched every piece that goes out the door. And while we will continue to create new, unique products in the studio, we have started new relationships with manufactures outside of New York to grow this little business and continue to bring you the fun and affordable designs that have gotten us this far!
Perch! products are environmentally friendly - low impact materials and processes, non-toxic finishes and byproducts. We do our best to keep our shipping practices low impact as well.
Perch! is an advocate for a design process with time for research and fine tuning, manufacturing that supports local industries, workshops and craftspeople.
Amy Adams, the designer of all Perch! products, is from Minneapolis but lives in and cares deeply about Brooklyn. She has a few degrees - in Art (Iowa State) and Design (Pratt). She likes to make things - mostly ceramics but also furniture and food things too. Favorite things at the moment: Red Hook, air plants, block printed fabric, stools, station wagons, ice tea, micheladas, small boxy cabins and surf movies.
Our Flickr page has photos of our studio, prototypes, works in progress, inspiration, our kitty-cat, and other things related to business at Perch! And my new blog Perch Notebook shows pages and pages of my lists and notebooks.
